The festival I mentioned in my last post was this one, the Belle Époque celebration. Benicàssim saw significant development in the early 1900's, and the villas along the water are testament to the style of that time. I was especially fascinated to discover that one of the villas——Villa Amparo, I believe——had been used by John Dos Passos and Ernest Hemingway at various points.
