I had spent several elementary school years in the Denver area, so I had been to the Garden of the Gods before, but it had been quite a while. My wife had also visited at one point during her high school years. So it was a nice experience to visit it together, with our son, and to drive slowly along the loop. Given our time in Arizona, including the years we served a church near Sedona, I think the stunning rock formations left us less with a sense of surprise or awe, and more with a sense of pleasant, comfortable joy in the beauty.
