Personal notes:
By August of 2015, we had lived in Spain for just over a year. Our organization had a team working with a church up north of Valencia in the small town of Benicàssim, and so we took a short trip up to meet the team members and find an apartment. The picture above is from that trip.
It became quickly apparent that the cultural differences between Andalucía and the Valencian Community were significant. Spanish neighbors would often describe the southern area——and Córdoba in particular——as outgoing and friendly, but we found the Valencian community to be more welcoming in general. And it didn't hurt that the coast was close and the temperatures were more manageable.
