Looking Down the Castle Walls — Peñiscola

Personal notes:
The castle at Peñiscola was one of my favorite places to take folks who visited us in Spain. Sometimes, we'd just drive up with the kids for a visit to the castle and some pizza by the beach. (To be fair, I just love a Spanish castle. There are other excellent castles in Xátiva and Málaga that will show up later on in this blog.) The above photo is the first of a few I'll post from the same visit.
Years earlier, during my first visit to Spain in 2008, I spent a day or two in Peñiscola by chance. I still have a crystal clear memory of standing on the beach, late at night, with this castle rising above us and the wind blasting in off of the sea while a dear friend and I spoke at length about the possibilities of serving together in ministry in Spain. This is the friend whose family ended up in Oropesa, just north of us while we lived in Benicàssim.
