Outside Casa Batlló — Barcelona

Personal notes:
I recently saw Turner's The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons, October 16, 1834, and I thought, "I want to paint something that makes other people feel what this makes me feel."
As a young man, I considered pursuing a career in architecture for the same reason. Good buildings move me.
But I don't enjoy cleaning paintbrushes or calculating load bearings as much as I enjoy writing and revising stories, so there you have it.
After our meetings in Croatia, we had a day or two in Barcelona, and my wife generously agreed to visit a few of Gaudi's buildings. This picture is just outside Casa Batlló. I was getting frustrated with my inability to capture the building from street level with a smartphone. I turned around, saw the crowd behind me reacting to the building, and I snapped this shot.
I liked this format enough that I've returned to it from time to time.
